Celebrating 25 Years of Impact: 2025 Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament Raises $2.5 Million
The 25th annual Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament was truly one for the history books, thanks to the generous support of organizations, volunteers, and partners across Canada. This year’s event raised an incredible $2,359,000 in support of more than 25 charities across Ontario, Québec, and British Columbia. In a heartfelt moment during the evening reception, Mike McGahan announced that CLV Group would be rounding up the total to $2.5 million in honour of the tournament’s 25th anniversary milestone.
Since its humble beginnings in 1998, raising just $3,000 at its inaugural event, the tournament has grown into one of Canada’s largest private charity events. Over the past 25 years the annual tournament, hosted by CLV Group and InterRent REIT, has raised more than $12 million, with 100% of proceeds donated to charities nationwide that support youth services, community programs, education, mental health initiatives, and more.
By distributing donations across multiple sectors, the tournament ensures that the funds raised create a broad and lasting legacy of impact, strengthening communities from coast to coast.

A History Rooted in Community
The tournament began in Ottawa in 1998 as a small but passionate fundraiser spearheaded by Mike McCann. His belief in the power of giving back laid the foundation for what would go on to become a beloved annual tradition with national reach.
For nearly two decades, Mike was the driving force behind the tournament, inspiring everyone involved with his generosity, leadership, and charisma. Following his passing in 2019, the tournament was renamed in his honour.
“Mike’s legacy lives on through this event, and we have been committed to making it bigger, better, and more impactful each year,” shared Mike McGahan. “We wouldn’t be able to do this without our partners and our staff volunteers – their overwhelming generosity and commitment to community are what make this all possible.”
Event Highlights
This year’s tournament welcomed over 430 golfers across two courses; The Meadows Golf & Country Club and Carleton Golf & Yacht Club. From breakfast and pre-game festivities to the shotgun start, the energy was high as participants teed off for an unforgettable day of friendly competition and charitable giving.
The courses were filled with contests, prizes, and sponsor activations, including hole-in-one opportunities from Mark Motors, Myers, Harley-Davidson, and Surgenor, and on-site activities that kept the excitement going all day long. Representatives from The Royal Ottawa, Youth Services Bureau, Senators Community Foundation, The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, and many more were also present, offering golfers the chance to connect directly with the organizations they were supporting.

Evening Reception and Celebration
As the sun set, attendees came together for an evening of great food, community spirit, and celebration. Local food trucks lined the entryway to the event, while the silent auction featured dozens of exciting items up for grabs including a guitar signed by the legendary Lenny Kravitz, autographed sports memorabilia, and more.
The highlight of the evening came when Cassandra, representing Ottawa’s Youth Services Bureau (YSB), shared her powerful personal story. From her early struggles with health and unstable housing to the life-changing support she received from YSB, Cassandra’s journey moved the audience and served as a poignant reminder of why we continue to gather for this tournament year after year.
Following the annual live auction (complete with an NFL Dream Weekend and a trip to London, England) the evening closed with the highly anticipated fundraising reveal. The cheque presentation and announcement of $2.5 M raised was met with a standing ovation, a moment that captured not only the generosity of sponsors, partners, and participants, but also the spirit of collaboration that has defined this tournament since it began. The funds raised will help ensure that dozens of charitable organizations can continue their essential work providing care, resources, and hope to those who need it most.
