Careers at CLV Group: Meet Our Team & Explore Growth Opportunities
Building a Career with Purpose: A Conversation with Kiera Dixon
At CLV Group, careers go beyond your daily roles and responsibilities. They are built through meaningful connections, continuous growth, and a shared sense of impact. To give a closer look at what that really means, we sat down with Kiera Dixon, Talent Acquisition and Engagement Coordinator, to talk about her own professional journey, what sets CLV apart, and what advice she has for those just starting their own careers.
Finding the Right Fit Starts with the Right People
Kiera’s path to CLV didn’t happen overnight, it started with a first impression that stuck.
“Honestly, it was the people,” she shares. “My first interaction with CLV was about two years ago when I was applying to jobs out of university. I didn’t end up getting the role at the time, but Juan, who interviewed me and is now my manager, left a lasting impression.”
That experience stayed with her. So when another opportunity came up a year later, the decision felt easy.
“I couldn’t turn it down.”
It’s a reminder that at CLV, connections matter. Even when timing isn’t right the first time, the relationships built along the way can shape future opportunities.
Starting Your Career: Preparation Makes the Difference
When asked what advice she’d give to recent graduates entering the workforce, Kiera doesn’t hesitate.
“Do your research.”
It’s simple, but it’s something she learned firsthand.
“When I was applying for jobs the first time, I didn’t really take that into account. I got a lot of ‘no’s because I didn’t fully understand what I was interviewing for or what the company was about.”
That experience shaped how she approaches opportunities today and what she looks for in candidates.
“Knowing what you’re talking about when you walk into an interview really stands out. It shows effort, and it makes a strong impression.”
Learning Through Experience
Looking back, Kiera sees a clear connection between preparation and confidence.
“I wish I had taken more time to really understand the companies I was applying to,” she says. “A lot of the challenges I faced early on came from not knowing what I was getting myself into.”
It’s a lesson that resonates with many early-career professionals and one that reinforces how important curiosity and intention are when building a career.
A Culture That Balances Drive and Connection
Ask anyone at CLV what sets the culture apart, and you’ll hear a common theme: It is a culture built on both ambition and genuine connection.
Kiera puts it this way:
“Everybody here works really hard, but we also like to have fun. We all bond really well, and getting to come into work every day and collaborate with a group of go-getters is really inspiring.”
That balance between ambition and connection is a defining part of the CLV experience. It’s not just about what gets accomplished, but how it gets accomplished, and who you get to do it with.
Growth That’s Built Around You
One of the things Kiera highlights most is the flexibility and opportunity for growth within CLV.
“Because we’re a growing company, roles aren’t extremely defined,” she explains. “You can tailor your role to what you’re interested in.”
Instead of being limited by rigid job descriptions, team members are encouraged to explore, contribute, and evolve.
“Managers here are really supportive of helping you grow. If there’s something you’re interested in and you show that initiative, you can shape your experience and make it your own.”
That kind of environment supports and accelerates career development.
Making an Impact Beyond the Workplace
While culture and growth matter, there’s another factor that keeps people at CLV long-term: impact.
Kiera jokes that it might be “tickets to Ottawa Senators games,” but quickly points to something deeper.
“The way we give back to the community really makes people stay,” she says. “Our impact goes beyond our own properties: we’re involved across Ottawa in meaningful ways.”
From large-scale initiatives like our Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament to consistent involvement at local events, CLV’s commitment to community is woven into the fabric of the organization. The Mike McCann Charity Golf tournament is one of Canada’s biggest golf tournaments, and has raised more than $12 million dollars since the tournament began 25 years ago.
“You’re able to see the impact you’re making every day,” she adds. “And that’s something people really value.”
