Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament Raises More Than $1.6 Million

$1,665,000 raised for charities in our community – the 2023 Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament has set a record once again!

Since its inception in 1998, CLV Group's Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament has grown into one of the largest private fundraising events in the country, thanks to the generosity of our partners. To date, the event has raised more than $8,100,000 to support dozens of deserving organizations across Ontario, Québec, and British Columbia.

The tournament got its namesake in 2019, honouring a dear friend of CLV Group who tragically passed away from cancer. Mike McCann was incredibly passionate about philanthropy in Ottawa and was instrumental in the tournament’s success throughout the many years he spent planning it. He made an impact on everyone he met, and we seek to embody his spirit within the annual fundraiser – an impactful, memorable event with an electric energy.

The Event Day

With the sold-out tournament welcoming over 400 golfers to Ottawa, we expanded across two local courses. We’d like to thank the Meadows Golf & Country Club and Anderson Links for hosting our golfers and for helping us create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Attendees met at The Meadows in the morning for registration and great eats provided by Subito, No Go Coffee Co., Tim Hortons (donated by The Snowsuit Fund), and Farmboy. The Redbull Canada team also joined us to keep the energy up all day long. Coach buses were on-site to transport golfers between the two locations. Each course featured a variety of contests and prizes including closest to the pin and hole-in-one. Charity representatives from The Royal Ottawa, Habitat for Humanity, Sun Youth, Christie Lake Kids, BGC Canada, and Youth Services Bureau came out to the course to support our golfers and have some fun in the sunshine.

Later on, the evening portion of our event kicked off with local eats from a variety of local food trucks including Angry Dragonz, Biagio’s Kitchen and Catering, Si Senor, Beavertails, Tommy’s Chip Wagon, Gather Café + Kitchen, and Foodie Lu. Then, our silent auction took place with more than 80 fabulous items available for guests to bid on.

Record-Breaking Fundraiser

Guests settled into their seats after dinner for the awards ceremony, annual live auction, and the highly anticipated final cheque presentation. With a buzz of excitement in the air, Mike McGahan (CEO of CLV Group and Executive Chairman) and Brad Cutsey (President and CEO) hopped onstage to unveil the remarkable final number raised. $1,665,000 – an amount Mike McCann would be proud of.

100% of the proceeds raised at the golf tournament will go directly back into communities across Ottawa, Southwestern Ontario, Montreal, and British Columbia. Donations will be spread amongst numerous charities including BGC Canada, The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Ottawa Food Bank, Burlington Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Moose Hide Campaign, Ottawa Humane Society, and many more.
