Week of Giving 2019
An overwhelming success for our 2019 Week of Giving!
On the first week of December, from December 2nd to 6th, CLV Group pulled off its annual Week of Giving. Each day during the week is dedicated to a certain charity supporting Holiday initiatives.
This year, staff had the opportunity to participate in multiple activities supporting diverse causes across Ontario and Quebec. Whether it was donating money, goods or time, everyone found their way of giving back for this Holiday season.
Across Ontario and Quebec
The ShoeBox Project – Gift Box Preparation
The Shoebox Project is a charity that collects and locally distributes gift-filled shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness across Canada, the United Stated and the United Kingdom. Shoeboxes had an approximate value of $50 and contained useful gifts such has tuque, gloves, socks, soap, lotion, hairbrush, dental care products, gift cards and an encouraging note. This year, our teams across Quebec and Ontario totaled 69 volunteers and filled a total of 63 shoeboxes!
Food Drive – Collecting Donations
Our major offices and residential buildings had bins to collect non-perishable food items that would be donated to the local food bank. Beneficiaries of our food drives across Ontario and Quebec included the Ottawa Food Bank, Burlington Food Bank, London Food Bank, Aylmer Food Bank and the Montreal Sun Youth Food Drive. The donations received will be used by the banks to redistribute locally to families in need over the Holidays.
Ottawa
Boys and Girls Club Ottawa – Baking
The Boys and Girls Club Ottawa helps at-risk children and youth across the city by providing a safe space for them as well as numerous programs around arts, sports and education. Our 6 volunteers helped prepare treats and decor for the Boys and Girls Club Ottawa Holiday Party.
Sheperds of Good Hope – Food Preparation
Sheperds of Good Hope, Ottawa, foster hope and reduce harm in Ottawa by supporting the homeless and most vulnerable with specialized services, programs and partnerships. Ten volunteers from our staff assembled sandwiches and prepared dinner for the evening service.
Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities – Gift Wrapping
The Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD) provides support to hundreds of persons with developmental disabilities, in every aspect of life whether seeking work opportunities, securing living arrangements or dealing with day-to-day tasks. Our 4 volunteers were stationed at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre and had a lot of fun wrapping over 20 presents to collect money donations for the OCAPDD.
Youth Services Bureau – Angel Tree
The Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive non profit agencies serving youth in this community. More than 350 caring professionals work from 20 locations across the city to deliver a vast range of programs and services that support at risk youth and their families. The Angel Tree is an actual tree located in our Ottawa Office where Children’s wish lists are hung in the shape of stars. Ten participants each picked a star which they purchased and wrapped gifts from the wish lists to ensure children in need get presents for the Holidays.
Burlington
McMaster Children Hospital – Creating Craft Kits for Children
The McMaster Children’s Hospital provides care for sick children. Our 12 staff members who volunteered for this charity purchased items and helped assemble craft kits for the children to enjoy in their room.
Joseph Brant Hospital – Gift Wrapping
The Joseph Brant Hospital provides medical support to those within the Burlington area. Our volunteer wrapped presents in exchange for money donations to help support the hospital’s services.
London
Mission Services of London – Sorting Donations
Mission Services of London work to help those in need within the community. Our volunteer had a great time sorting in-kind donations that had been provided.
Aylmer
L’Autre Chez Soi Women’s Shelter & SPCA – Collecting Donations
L’autre Chez Soi Women’s Shelter offers a safe space for women impacted by domestic violence and their children. The SPCA provides care for animals waiting to find a new home. On December 7th, our team from Riviera Apartments organized an event and invited residents and staff members to stop by to drop off their donations for the two charities. Donations ranged from gently used clothing for women and children, shoeboxes filled with gifts for women, toys, and gently used towels and blankets for the SPCA. Our team was overwhelmed with the generosity of the community!
Montreal
Sun Youth – Preparing Food Bags
Sun Youth objectives are to encourage inclusion and alleviate poverty for Montreal families. Our team put together food baskets with basic items at the Sun Youth’s warehouse for Montreal families in need.
The Media Food Drive (La Grande Guignolée des Médias) – Collecting Donations
The well-known Media Food Drive collects money donations from drivers at busy street corners to fully redistribute them to Société Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Moisson Montréal and Sun Youth. Collect donations from drivers in their cars at the red lights and encourage them to make a difference in the life of Montreal families in need. The 2019 Media Food Drive ends on December 24th, if you wish to contribute, text “FILL” at 20222 to donate $10 to the drive or visit their website.
